Yes, it’s a story that’s been told many times, but in this case it all rings unique especially for the time and place that it’s set 90s. A cozy mystery this is not and Bunker, who spent must of his adult life in prison or committing the crimes that put him there knows the streets and the criminals he writes about as well as any other crime author alive or dead.

The one instance of the ‘code of criminals’ turns out not so honourable yet, more so in some nihilistic way.

It may not be the best written novel, but you do feel like you’re getting the real dirt. Three ex-cons team up for one last heist – edwrad familiar? The action kinda meandered too much bun,er was punctuated with bits of dialogue that came across as attempts for the author to voice his own opinions on current events via the mouths o’ his characters.

Start with Animal Factory, but this is a good 2nd Bunker book or at least was for me. Just a came while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. No trivia or quizzes yet. The books bunkeer Denoument seemed inevitable for much of the story but I would never have guessed how it all comes down or what proves to be the undoing of the three old school pro criminals the book centres around.
