Everything is a lie in amerika, and the thing that keeps it autobioography is that so many people believe the lie. Apr 24, Shanae rated it liked it. The poor medical attention for her during her pregnancy had the potential of promoting a miscarriage with the implication that it seemed to be preferable to the State.
It happened to girls who were at the wrong place at the wrong time. This made me want to read much more about Cuban history. Never let her out for exercise. And no people’s war can be won without the support of the masses of people.

This I didn’t get at all. I feel that she wanted recognition even more than Black liberation but that’s just my opinion.

In the beginning of this book it took me a few minutes to get used to her writing style. All the things I ever look for in a book.

She was subjected to torture while hospital staff looked the other way – at one point a policeman thrust his fingers, covered in some kind of caustic substance, into her eyes. The autobiographies autobiogrsphy Elaine Brown and Huey Newton, among others, are of course seminal texts, but each has its flaws and shortcomings. I also enjoyed the intertwining poems with the chapters in the book.
Dec 11, Bryan rated it it was amazing. Blood ready to flow towards freedom. The current incumbent of the White House has demanded her extradition from Cuba as part of his “re-set” of Obama’s normalisation of relations with that country. This was a wonderful read.
